On the effect of Wiener phase noise in OFDM systems

چکیده
Multicarrier modulation exhibits a significant sensitivity to the phase noise of the oscillator used for frequency down-conversion at the portable receiver. For this reason, it is important to evaluate the impact of the phase noise on the system performance. In this letter we present an accurate method to determine the error probability of an orthogonal frequencydivision multiplexing (OFDM) system in the presence of phase noise. In particular, four modulation schemes are analyzed and their performances are compared.

Langevin equation for a nano-particle suspended in a laminar fluid flow was analytically studied. The Brownian motion generated from molecular bombardment was taken as a Wiener stochastic process and approximated by a Gaussian white noise. Euler-Maruyama method was used to solve the Langevin equation numerically. The accuracy of Brownian simulation was checked by performing a series of simulati...

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a useful technology in wireless communications that provides high-rate data transmission in multipath fading channels. The advantages of OFDM systems are the high spectral efficiency and strong resistance to frequency selective fading. In OFDM systems, a large number of sub-carriers are used to modulate the symbols causing the time-domain OFD...

For the specification of phase-noise requirements for the front-end of a HiperLAN/2 system we investigated available literature on the subject. Literature differed in several aspects. One aspect is in the type of phase-noise used (Wiener phase-noise or small-angle phase noise). A Wiener phase-noise based analysis leads to contradictions with the type of analysis normally used in the solid state...

Recently, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been extensively used in communications systems to resist channel impairments in frequency selective channels. OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technology in wireless environment that use a large number of orthogonal subcarriers to transmit information. OFDM is one of the most important blocks in digital video broadcast-terrestr...
